Arghand soaps feature seven unique blends of our own oils, cold pressed or steam-distilled by Arghand cooperative members in our Kandahar atelier. Lovingly crafted to resemble pieces of polished marble, each cake is double batched -- meaning the soap is grated and re-melted before adding the fragile essential oils and vegetable dyes -- at which point it is hand-molded and cured for a minimum of six weeks. The surface of each soap is then tapped, using real stones from the Arghandab River bed to compress and even it out in a process called "hand-milling," and finally polished to a glossy finish. The result is a bar that is more Ph neutral than almost any other soap, and much longer lasting.
